Sixteen Years

We just enjoyed a lovely weekend away for our sixteenth wedding anniversary.

✨ 💍 ✨

My anniversary bouquet was quite colorful this year! I loved the variety of flowers, and how it cheered up the house.

We decided to stay close to home, and enjoy the small, quaint town of Sturgeon Bay in Door County.

It was delightful!

Our bed and breakfast was so quiet, comfortable and clean. I would love to return for a future anniversary, and would certainly recommend it to others.

We did not luck out with nice weather, however. It could not have been a gloomier, chillier weekend!

So, we entertained ourselves with cozy and relaxing activities.

We ate at charming restaurants, visited the shops, and walked along the water. Our room was outfitted with a fireplace, and the Innkeeper always had hot water for tea ready upon our return.

(He was a pleasant, older man named Max, who made us feel at home.)

Sometimes our meanders took us into art galleries...

Other times to quiet book shops.

(We got absorbed in here for quite a while. Every so often one of us would break the dreamy silence with a, "Hey, listen to this..." then proceed to read aloud the excerpt that enthralled us.)

When the weather became especially bad, (hard winds and pelting snow!) we just curled up in our room and watched an interesting documentary.

Luxurious!

We found a great little church to visit on Palm Sunday.

The people were so warm and welcoming, and the service was simple but lovely.

Afterwards, we shook hands and visited with as many people as we could as we inched our way closer and closer to the exit.

😊

Whenever I travel, I try to keep an eye out for some nugget of wisdom, or home trinket that I can bring back with me to improve our homelife.

I was lamenting to Micah, as we browsed the shops, that our house is full. But I did find a crystal vase I thought was unique, with an interesting tulip-shaped rim.

I got it home, washed it up with soapy water, and put it to work right away displaying the remains of my anniversary bouquet.

After about a week and a half, there are still a few strong ones hanging on...

I am thankful for the work the Lord has done in my marriage and family.

We cannot take credit for sixteen years of faithfulness. God did it, and we are aware of that. All we have to do is obey.

"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you, will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6
